Let the guinguette come alive! As soon as the warm days arrive, we light up the lanterns and open our festive riverside spot, just across the pond. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a snack with friends, workmates, or fellow art lovers — in the spirit of Berlin’s famous, cheerful biergartens — with generous, welcoming offerings for everyone.
Out on the town at the Guinguette
At the edge of the Meudon woods, in the heart of this extraordinary park dedicated both to contemporary art and to relaxation, it naturally becomes the perfect getaway.
A guinguette, with strings of lanterns and wide beige canopies shielding guests from the forest’s dampness, wooden benches and long communal tables for sharing simple dishes and drinks — anything from a cheerful glass of wine to a slightly more sophisticated cocktail, or even, why not, a fine bottle of champagne!
The Garden of delights
Small tables for two or four can be set up on charming little pontoons, built right over the venerable pond. Could there be a better spot to savor summer specialties — Toulouse sausage, chicken or grilled halloumi skewers — not to mention generous sharing boards of charcuterie, cheese, or a mix for the undecided?
But the true star of the Guinguette is its famous hot dogs — from the “classic hot dog” to the “vegetarian hot dog.” And to keep the Guinguette spirit of joyful simplicity alive until the very end, you simply have to save a little room for the all-time favorite: sugar crêpes!
