Reopening of La Petite Venise: a new trattoria in the garden of the Château de Versailles

Nestled between the Grand Canal and the Apollo Basin lies a place as surprising as it is “exotic”: a former gondola boathouse known as La Petite Venise.

A Historic Landmark

A listed historic monument, La Petite Venise has been reimagined, recapturing the spirit and soul of its original occupants as it transforms into a chic and elegant trattoria, all while maintaining a lively, festive, and relaxed atmosphere.

A Renewal of the Space

Staying true to the location’s heritage, Musiam Paris enlisted the interior design agency Volume ABC, led by Alienor Bechu, to create a space that is both vibrant and convivial, brimming with life and colour. The architect describes it as a “reenchantment through the South,” blending tradition and transmission with innovation—a concept perfectly aligned with Alain Ducasse’s vision and philosophy.

Italian Trattoria Cuisine

Trattoria-style cuisine led by young Chef Romain Parisot and his team, offering a wide selection of traditional recipes to enjoy after an aperitivo or a spritz from the bar.

Start with a variety of antipasti, perfect for sharing as an appetizer or enjoying as a starter: sliced charcuterie, Parma ham crostini with pesto, or lightly smoked salmon marinated with dill and burratina. Then, move on to Taglierini with vegetables, Malfadine all’Arrabbiata, or Veal Quasi with Scamorza cheese and sage jus. Finish on a sweet note with a classic Tiramisu or an Affogato drowned in coffee and praline.

Throughout the day, whether in the trattoria or outdoors, both young and old can also indulge in the Alain Ducasse Manufacture’s gelato and sorbets, served with a spatula in true Italian style.
