Café Richelieu
A French coffee and pastry break in the heart of the Louvre Museum.

The legendary tearoom
In the heart of the world’s most famous museum, located in the Richelieu Wing, just a few steps from the Napoléon III Apartments, Café Richelieu occupies the former office of the Minister of Finance.
A contemporary French patisserie
The menu at Café Richelieu now bears the signature of Jessica Prealpato, named ‘World’s Best Pastry Chef’ in 2019 by World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Drawing on her collaboration with Alain Ducasse, her unique culinary style is based on pastries guided by naturalness and the most accurate expression of the product.
Bold flavours, delicate balances and unexpected nuances transform the codes of the French tea room without ever betraying them. Ancient flours, honeys, plants, flowers, aromatic herbs and perfectly ripe fruits make up a contemporary, refined and sensitive pastry, designed to the rhythm of the seasons.
- Roasted apples à la tatin, bitter caramel and black lemon
- Vanilla Saint-Honoré and cinnamon bud
A place in dialogue with heritage
The architectural design for Café Richelieu draws on Jean-Michel Wilmotte’s original concept in order to preserve the identity of the Richelieu wing and the harmony of its volumes. This reinterpretation was overseen by Aliénor Béchu of Volume ABC, in keeping with the original vision, to create a heritage space with a refined design that is in constant dialogue with the architecture of the Louvre and the Pyramid.
